Kittitas County Chapter

Greetings everyone. It has been quite some time since the Kittitas County Chapter has submitted anything to our State newsletter. We hope to do better moving forward.

First and foremost, I want to say that the Kittitas County Chapter is alive and well. After some long and tumultuous internal struggles that took up a huge amount of time and energy, and which ultimately lead to the loss of some Chapter members, we are refocused on building up the Chapter in a positive manner and welcome our newest members.

The 9th Annual Iron Horse Trail Motorcycle Show event planning is in full swing. The event will, as always, be held on the first weekend in May (May 6-7, 2017). We have a brand-new venue at the University Auto Complex, 1817 State Route 97 Ellensburg, WA 98926 - I-90 Exit 106. We are excited and grateful to UAC for their generosity in hosting us this year. The space is much larger and we expect to accommodate a wider variety of food vendors, a beer garden, and other merchants. Saturday will be the “Poker Run” followed by live music with Powerhouse, Yakima’s premier classic rock band. We’ll have bike games, the bike show competition, a silent auction, more food and beer on Sunday and more live music featuring the outlaw county and Johnny Cash tribute band Rusty Cage.

Unfortunately, our prior site, The Red Horse Diner, whose partnership we mutually chose to end after 8 successful years, has decided to hold their own run and gathering, which by all accounts will be for profit and appears is being shepherded by some of those members who recently left our Chapter, on the very same weekend. As much as this saddens us, we would not expect any boycotting or other negativity to be aimed toward the business and hope that we can all benefit in sharing the weekend.

The competition will be challenging, but we are confident that with the support of our ABATE brothers and sisters, motorcyclists across the state, our sponsors and the local community we can succeed in raising monies to support our local charities.
